Jason Blum teases Insidious: The Red Door will be last franchise entry for some time

July 9, 2023 by EJ Moreno

If you want more Insidious, you must see the upcoming fifth entry because this is the last one for quite some time.

Speaking with Discussing Film, producer Jason Blum revealed that Blumhouse has no plans for a sixth Insidious and hopes fans turn out for this instalment. Insidious: The Red Door is a direct sequel to the first two films in the franchise, giving the whole thing a sense of closure. That closure is why Blum believes this is such an event for long-time fans.

“You better see this Insidious; it’s the last one! (laughs) To give a more serious answer, [The Red Door] is going to be the last we’re going to see of Insidious for a while. It may not be a forever rest, but it’s certainly going to be a very long rest,” says Blum.

He adds, “So if someone comes up with some idea in 10 years, who knows? But there’s not a plan – as there has been with every prior Insidious movie – there’s no current plan in place for number six.”

Insidious: The Red Door is out in cinemas now. Read our review here.

In Insidious: The Red Door, the horror franchise’s original cast returns for the final chapter of the Lambert family’s terrifying saga. To put their demons to rest once and for all, Josh (Patrick Wilson) and a college-aged Dalton (Ty Simpkins) must go deeper into The Further than ever before, facing their family’s dark past and a host of new and more horrifying terrors that lurk behind the red door.

The original cast from Insidious is back with Patrick Wilson (also making his directorial debut), Ty Simpkins, Rose Byrne, and Andrew Astor. Also starring Sinclair Daniel and Hiam Abbass. Produced by Jason Blum, Oren Peli, James Wan, and Leigh Whannell. The screenplay is written by Scott Teems from a story by Leigh Whannell, based on characters created by Leigh Whannell.
