Jason Mewes’ directorial debut Madness in the Method gets a poster and trailer

July 13, 2019 by Gary Collinson

2019 is shaping up to be a big year for Jason Mewes. As well as reprising the role of Jay for this year’s Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, he also makes his feature directorial debut with Madness in the Method, which sees him portraying a fictionalised version of himself who sets out to be taken seriously as an actor. Check out the poster and trailer here…

“I’m horrible at explaining movies, honestly, but it’s sort of based on my real life,” Mewes in an interview with EW. “Brian O’Halloran (from Clerks) wrote a script that’s got Oscar potential, and I want to be the lead actor. No one’s taking me seriously, they see me as the stoner guy, and I try to show them that I can be serious. And then there’s murder, and mayhem, and all sorts of crazy fun that happens.”

The only way to survive in Hollywood is to toughen up, or embrace insanity! At least that’s the advice Kevin Smith passes on to his best friend Jason Mewes, problem is, Smith was joking about the latter…

No longer content being known only as Jay from Jay and Silent Bob, Jason takes matters into his own hands and hatches a plan to change people’s perception of him in the movie business. Did the plan involve a killing spree, a wide scale police investigation and international press scrutiny? Probably not, but whatever works, right? Can Jason get away with murder and climb his way to the top of Hollywood or is it all just the fantastical ‘mewesings’ of an insane ex drug addict?

Joining Jason Mewes in the cast of the film are Kevin Smith, Vinnie Jones, Gina Carano, Jaime Camil, Kevin Smith, Danny Trejo, Teri Hatcher, Brian O’Halloran, Dean Cain, Zach Galligan, Casper Van Dien, Judd Nelson, Matt Willis, Evanna Lynch, Blake Harrison, David Dastmalchian, Harley Quinn Smith and the late, great Stan Lee in his final on screen role.

Madness in the Method is set to screen at Comic-Con on July 18th ahead of a digital release from August 2nd.
