Update – Jason Momoa confirmed as Aquaman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

August 12, 2014 by Gary Collinson

UPDATE: Turns out that CBR was citing an article Variety posted back in June. So, still no confirmation on this one. Sorry for getting your hopes up / disappointing you (delete as appropriate). Original post follows…

Despite spending much of 2014 denying his casting, it has now been confirmed by Variety (via ComicBookResources) that Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones, Conan the Barbarian) will appear as Aquaman in 2016’s DC superhero ensemble Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Momoa’s Aquaman joins an ever-increasing roster of Justice Leaguers in the Zack Snyder-directed follow-up to last year’s Man of Steel, which also includes Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Ray Fisher as Cyborg. And of course the news follows Zack Snyder’s recent call in to a Detroit radio station, where he leapt to the defence of Aquaman after the character was mocked on air.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is set for release on March 25th 2016, with a cast that also includes returning Man of Steel stars Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent) and Laurence Fishburne (Perry White) alongside Jesse Eisenberg (Now You See Me) as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons (The Borgias) as Alfred Pennyworth and Holly Hunter (The Piano), Callan Mulvey (300: Rise of an Empire), Tao Okamoto (The Wolverine) and Scoot McNairy (Argo) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
