Jason Statham is not interested in becoming a superhero, dismisses genre

December 6, 2013 by admin

First Alan Moore, and now Jason Statham… In a recent interview, the British hardman actor has spoken about about superhero movies, and says he’s not interested in taking on a role as a costumed crime-fighter.

“It’s all about money, kids pay money to go and see them,” Statham tells Digital Spy. “The fascination is superheroes, it’s what people want to go and see but you wouldn’t get me rushing to the cinema to see those. I like old-fashioned type of film. They’ve never offered me a part in one of those and I don’t think the shoes would fit. Or the cape wouldn’t fit.”

Statham is in the news a lot promoting his latest film Homefront, which premiered in the U.S. last weekend. He has recently been filming Fast & Furious 7, which has since been put on hold due to Paul Walker’s death, while he also has The Expendables 3 and Heat due for release next year.

So, is Statham out of line here? Is it a mixed blessing for superhero movie fans? Or does he have a point? Let us know in the comments below….
