Jason Voorhees heading to the small screen for Friday the 13th TV series

April 25, 2014 by Gary Collinson

We know that Jason Voorhees will be heading back to cinemas in 2015 for the thirteenth instalment of the Friday the 13th franchise, but it appears that masked monster is also set to terrorise Crystal Lake campers on the small screen, with Deadline revealing that Bill Basso (Terminator) and Jordu Schell (Avatar) are busy writing a Friday the 13th TV series.

According to the report, the hourlong series will re-imagine Jason in multiple time periods, with the series described as “contemporary, focusing on the eclectic characters of Crystal Lake who are forced to confront the return of the killer, as new secrets about his wacky family are revealed.”

“Jason Voorhees is synonymous with the genre and we plan to build on this legacy with a provocative and compelling take that expands upon the storylines that have already thrilled millions worldwide,” states Sean S. Cunningham, director of the 1980 original, who will serve as executive producer on the series.
