According to regular scooper Jeff Sneider, the Wednesday star is in talks to headline the film, which is being adapted by the Oscar winning JoJo Rabbit director from a script by Halt and Catch Fire‘s Dahvi Waller.

Klara and the Sun is based on Kazuo Ishiguro’s New York Times bestselling novel which is set in a dystopian future where parents who can afford it often buy their children androids as companions to prevent them from becoming lonely. One such family purchase the titular Klara, who sets about trying to save them from a life of heartbreak.

Next up for Ortega is Miller’s Girl, in which she stars alongside Martin Freeman as a young writer who embarks on a complex relationship which her much older teacher.
