Jerry Bruckheimer says multiple Pirates of the Caribbean movies are still in the works

December 23, 2022 by EJ Moreno

It’s not easy juggling the amount of work a master producer like Jerry Bruckheimer does, which explains why some projects become long delayed.

One of Bruckheimer’s recently delayed works involves at least two new Pirates of the Caribbean movies. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the producer addressed the fate of the two Pirates movies, giving fans some much-needed news.

Bruckheimer updates on both films, starting with Ted Elliott and Craig Mazin’s project, which was set to feature a younger cast. “I think we’re getting very close on that one, too. We have a very good script. We developed two of them – the one with Margot Robbie and one with a younger cast. The Margot Robbie one needs a little more work. The younger cast one is close. Hopefully, we’ll get both of them.”

Bruckheimer adds an update about the planned Margot Robbie film, initially set to be penned by Christina Hodson. It was implied recently that Robbie has moved on with the project, but Bruckheimer says otherwise.

“[The Robbie one] is alive for me. It’s alive for Disney,” says Bruckheimer. “I’m sure she was disappointed it didn’t go first – or maybe not because she’s very busy, so it might be a blessing to push this a bit. We believe we’ll get it made. It’s a very strong story.”

Fans remain curious about the possibility of any future instalments featuring the return of Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow, but there’s no update involving any new mainstream projects for Depp as of yet.
