Jim Carrey set for indie thriller True Crimes

May 15, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

Not content with revisting his old comedies like last year’s Dumb & Dumber To, Jim Carrey is taking a rather darker approach to the later years of his career, with news of his next project surfacing from Cannes, reports TheWrap.

Carrey is set to star in a new thriller called True Crimes, to be directed by Alexandros Avranas (Miss Violence). Based on a New Yorker article published in 2008 by David Grann, which The Wrap describe as “a murder investigation that turns to clues found in an author’s book about an eerily similar crime”, the film is being co-produced by director Brett Ratner (Red Dragon) from a script by Jeremy Brock (The Last King of Scotland).

The two-time Golden Globe winner has also been recently cast in The Bad Batch, the new film from acclaimed directed Ana Lily Amirpour (The Girl Walks Home Alone At Night) which co-stars Keanu Reeves (John Wick) and Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones).
