The third season of AMC’s spin-off The Walking Dead: Dead City has added Jimmi Simpson (Westworld) to its cast as a series regular.
The Walking Dead: Dead City stars Lauren Cohen and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as their iconic Walking Dead characters Maggie and Negan. The two of them travel to Manhattan, which has long been cut off from the rest of the world following the outbreak, and encounter dangerous new foes and factions along with the dead.
Simpson will play a character named Dillard, but no other information on has been provided on who he is playing. His casting comes after Lucifer‘s Aimee Garcia was announced to join the season as another series regular. She will play Renata, “a disarmingly charming leader with a natural ability to win people over with her optimism and convivial personality.”
Season two of Dead City saw Maggie and Negan finding themselves trapped on opposite sides of a war to control Manhattan. As their paths intertwine, they come to see that the way out for both is more complicated and harrowing than they ever imagined.
Despite the flagship Walking Dead ending after 11 seasons in 2022, AMC is still continuing with the franchise as the third season of Daryl Dixon premiered earlier this month with an announced fourth season to be its final. Last year also saw the miniseries The Ones Who Live premiere with Andrew Lincoln’s return as Rick Grimes after he left the show in Season 9.
