Joe Cornish in line for Star Trek 3?

November 4, 2013 by admin

With J.J. Abrams heading off to a galaxy far, far away for Star Wars: Episode VII, the crew of the Starship Enterprise are in need of a new leader at the helm. Well, according to Deadline, Paramount may have a front runner for the captain’s chair.

To stop with the Star Trek metaphors, it seems as though Attack the Block director Joe Cornish is in line for the role of director for the as of yet untitled Star Trek 3.

Cornish has been making quite the name for himself in Hollywood circles with not only the impressive work on Attack the Block but also the co-writing credits he’s had with Edgar Wright on The Adventures of Tintin and the first movie of Marvel’s Phase Three, Ant-Man. According to Deadline he’s already working with Paramount on a big screen adaptation of Snow Crash so it would seem likely they’d be having talks with the former 6Music radio presenter.

If Cornish is to take the job, it would likely he wouldn’t have any writing credits due to the script already being in the works by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.

Expect to hear some news soon as Paramount is reportedly keen to get started on Star Trek 3 in early 2014.
