Joe Cornish to write and direct adaptation of Mark Millar’s Starlight

April 12, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

While the rumours of an Attack the Block sequel continue to do the rounds, Joe Cornish has settled on his next project for 20th Century Studios with an adaptation of Mark Millar’s comic Starlight.

According to Deadline, Cornish will write and direct Starlight, which tells the story of ‘a space hero who saved the universe 35 years ago but when he came back to Earth, no one believed his fantastic stories. He married, had kids and settled into old age, but then his old rocket ship shows up, and he is called back for one fantastic adventure.’

Cornish last directed the underrated The Kid Who Would Be King, and before that worked on Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man script and Steven Spielberg’s Tin-Tin, while Millar’s work has already been adapted for the screen in the form of Kick-Ass, Wanted, and the Kingsman franchise.

Simon Kinberg and Audrey Chon will produce the film through Genre Films, while Nira Park has also joined as a producer.
