John Carpenter is “ambivalent” about the Big Trouble in Little China remake

June 12, 2015 by admin

It was announced last week that San Andreas lead and movie mega star Dwayne Johnson was going to produce and star in a remake of the cult classic Big Trouble in Little China. Since then, he has said that he wants to work with original director John Carpenter on the remake. But what does Mr. Carpenter make of someone remaking one of his most beloved movies?

“I’m ambivalent about a remake,” Carpenter told The Wall Street Journal. “On the other hand, it depends on how much they pay me.”

Carpenter is a man who is no stranger to his movies being remade. In 2005, remakes were released of both The Fog and Assault on Precinct 13, Rob Zombie directed two remakes of Halloween and there has been plans to remake Escape From New York in place for a few years now.

As for the Big Trouble in Little China remake, “It’s very early in the process,” Carpenter adds. “I haven’t spoken to Dwayne Johnson about any of this.”

Big Trouble in Little China will be produced by Dwayne Johnson who will also star with a script penned by Zack Stenze and Ashley Miller (X-Men: First Class).
