John Cena hopes to return to the franchise after Fast & Furious 9

February 5, 2020 by Samuel Brace

John Cena, one of the stars of Fast & Furious 9, says he would like to return to the franchise in the future.

John Cena’s acting career seems to be going from strength to strength right now, with his upcoming appearance in Fast & Furious 9 being one his most high profile roles to date.

But it turns out that Cena isn’t looking at a one and done with the Furious franchise, as he hopes that he can also be involved in future movies. Speaking to MTV International, Cena said he “would be grateful for a place at the table” and is “just putting my thoughts out into the universe. Because if I put them out into the universe, maybe they will actually become reality. Maybe John Cena could be in Fast 10, maybe Justin Lin could direct it, I don’t know!”

Of course, we don’t know the fate of Cena’s character in Fast 9 but from the sounds of it, his return could very well be a possibility going forward.

No matter how fast you are, no one outruns their past. Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon. This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he’s going to save those he loves most. His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob (John Cena, next year’s The Suicide Squad).

Fast & Furious 9 sees Justin Lin directing series veterans Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren, along with franchise newcomers John Cena (Bumblebee), Finn Cole (Peaky Blinders), Anna Sawai (Ninja Assassin), Vinnie Bennett (Ghost in the Shell), Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy), Cardi B (Hustlers), MMA fighter Francis Ngannou, and singer Ozuna.
