John Cena returns to the world of WWE for streaming series WWE Evil

May 13, 2021 by EJ Moreno

While John Cena may not be returning to the wrestling ring anytime soon, the wrestler-turned-actor is coming back to WWE in another way as news broke today that Cena will create, produce and narrate a new Peacock series called WWE Evil.

The show is described as a “psychological exposé into the minds of the most diabolical characters in WWE history and their impact on mainstream culture.”

Cena took to Twitter to discuss the project:

For every good guy, there has to be a bad one and @WWE has created some of the BEST bad guys (and ladies) in the history of entertainment.
Excited to highlight those who made us boo, scream, and sometimes cry!

The 16-time WWE Champion will look at some of the wrestling company’s most iconic villains of all time. Known as “heels” in the world of wrestling, WWE Evil promises to look at some of the most well-known bad guys throughout history. From Rowdy Roddy Piper to WWE Chairman himself Vince McMahon, the company has some of the most recognizable villains in all of wrestling.

Recently, Peacock acquired the WWE Network, becoming the home for WWE’s events and entire catalog. The deal came together for the whopping sum of $1 billion and has seen great success following the company’s biggest event, Wrestlemania 37.

Outside of Peacock, wrestling documentaries are all the rage right now. WWE is also running a docu-series on channel A&E, profiling the biggest stars in history. Over on Viceland, Dark Side of the Ring has entered its third season.
