John Williams will start work on Star Wars: Episode IX score this summer

January 17, 2019 by Samuel Brace

According to a friend of the composer, John Williams will start work on the score for Star Wars: Episode IX this summer.

Star Wars: Episode IX is set to be the last time legendary composer John Williams will score a film in the franchise. His music in the saga has become iconic and one of the most beloved elements of the Star Wars movie experience for fans around the world.

Williams, unfortunately, suffered a health scare last year but according to his friend Mike Matessino, the composer has recovered and will apparently start work on Episode IX‘s score this summer. Matessino shared on the Film Score Board:

“John’s doing just fine. He went to Ginny Mancini’s Twelfth Night party last week. Just a few people there… Norman Lear, Quincy Jones, Leslie Bricusse… I don’t think he’s working on Episode IX until the summer; the schedule is still being worked out.”

With Episode IX releasing this December, it’s going to be exciting to see what Williams comes up with for this big instalment, as well as hearing the classic Star Wars themes we all love.
