Jon Favreau says he still wants to make Magic Kingdom movie

March 11, 2014 by admin

In 2010, Jon Favreau was announced as director for a live-action, Night at the Museum-esque adaptation of Magic Kingdom, which would follow a family at Disneyland who find the theme park’s characters coming to life.. Nothing has been heard of the project since but while at SXSW 2014 endorsing his new movie Chef, Favreau told Collider that it’s still a possibility, thought not until he’s finished his live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book.

“I really want to do Magic Kingdom. Part of what’s complicated about it is you’re mixing all of the different lands and character together but between The Avengers and The LEGO Movie, there seems tone a way to do it that doesn’t confuse the audience. Hopefully I’ll get to make that movie with Disney soon. Right now Jungle Book is the thing and hopefully through that partnership it’ll lead to getting the other film done because I think Magic Kingdom is a great idea for a film.”

The Jungle Book is set for release on October 9th 2015, with Idris Elba (Thor, Prometheus) set to play Shere Khan.
