Jon Favreau says The Mandalorian season 2 still scheduled for October release

June 6, 2020 by EJ Moreno

In the current entertainment landscape, one can’t be too sure if your favorite show will see a delay due to production shutdowns. That’s why Jon Favreau provided an update to fans of his hit series, The Mandalorian. The executive producer of the Disney+ show to let fans know in a virtual panel that season 2 will still see its October release.

“We were lucky enough to have finished photography before the lockdown,” Favreau said during a virtual panel for the ATX Television Festival moderated by Vanity Fair’s Anthony Breznican. “Thanks to how technology-forward Lucasfilm and ILM are, we have been able to do all of our visual effects and editing and post-production remotely through systems that had been set up by those companies for us.”

With the gruelling schedule for this production, Favreau went on to note in the panel that season two truly feels like a continuation of season one rather than a new thing: “As we explore partnering with new filmmakers and having new characters and going deeper with the characters we already have, it’s really been very fun and fulfilling, and I hope people are having as much fun seeing it as we are having making it.”

The Mandalorian season two is set to premiere in October 2020 and sees the returning Pedro Pascal (Din Djarin), Gina Carano (Cara Dune), Carl Weathers (Greef Karga), Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon) and Bill Burr (Mayfield) alongside new cast additions Rosario Dawson (Daredevil), Temuera Morrison (Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones), Katee Sackhoff (Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Timothy Olyphant (Justified) and Michael Biehn (The Terminator).
