Iron Man and The Jungle Book director Jon Favreau is set to direct the first episode of Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane’s as-yet-untitled live-action sci-fi comedy-drama for Fox, as well as serving as executive producer on the series.
The show, which has been ordered straight to series, will take place in the 24th century and “chronicles the exploits of the Orville, a ‘not-so-top-of-the-line’ ship in Earth’s interstellar Fleet.” MacFarlane is portraying Ed, the Captain of the Orville, and he will be joined in the cast by Adrianne Palicki and Scott Grimes.
Favreau is no stranger to the small screen, having directed episodes of Revolution, The Office and About a Boy. He also recently executive produced the fantasy series The Shannara Chronicles, which has been renewed for a second season.
