Josh Boone reuniting with The Fault in Our Stars screenwriters for X-Men spinoff New Mutants

August 26, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Originally published August 26, 2016. Updated April 15, 2018.

As development continues on 20th Century Fox’s New Mutants, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that The Fault in Our Stars screenwriters Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber are reuniting with director Josh Boone, having signed on to write the X-Men spinoff.

New Mutants “will focus on the angst-driven adventures of a diverse group of teens that include Native American Danielle Moonstar, Scots girl Wolfsbane, Brazilian ladies man Sunspot, a Kentuckian code-named Cannonball, and Russian teen Magik. Also in the mix will be an alien named Warlock.”

New Mutants is currently without a set release date or any cast members, although it has been rumoured that James McAvoy’s Professor X and Alexandra Shipp’s Storm could appear, while Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) and Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch) have also been linked to the project.
