Jurassic World shatters worldwide opening weekend record with $511 million haul

June 14, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Following on from the news that Jurassic World has debuted in the States with the second-biggest ever opening weekend of $204.6 million, it’s now being reported that the Colin Trevorrow-directed sequel has shattered the global record with an astonishing $511.8 million haul around the globe – making it the first film to ever surpass the $500 million mark in a single weekend.

In addition to its North American debut, Jurassic World has amassed $307.2 million from international markets (including $100 million in China). That figure falls short of the $314 million international opening of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, but the final Potter movie only managed $169.2 million domestically, for a grand total of $483.2 million.
