Justice League cinematographer backtracks on Superman’s black suit comments

December 16, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Earlier this month, Justice League cinematographer Fabian Wagner was quoted as revealing that scenes were shot for the DC blockbuster featuring Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel in his black costume from the Death of Superman comic book arc, only to end up on the cutting room floor.

Well, it seems that may not have been the case after all, as Wagner has now backtracked on his original comments somewhat, telling Collider that while the black suit did exist, it may only have been used during costume tests:

“Yeah you know actually, to be totally honest I just can’t remember if we were shooting it as a test or if we were actually shooting it as a full scene with the suit. I definitely shot it, but I just can’t remember if it was more of a test or a full scene. But definitely seeing the black costume was great. So I’m not 100% sure whether that would have been in the movie anyhow.”

Are you disappointed that we didn’t get to see Superman rocking his black costume in Justice League? Let us know in the comments below…

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League reunites Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta and Robin Wright as General Antiope alongside J.K.
