Katherine Waterston joins Benedict Cumberbatch and Michael Shannon in The Current War

Katherine Waterston has signed on to appear alongside Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange) and Michael Shannon (Midnight Special) in The Weinstein Company’s upcoming drama The Current War.

The film is being directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) and revolves around the real life battle between Thomas Edison (Cumberbatch) and George Westinghouse (Shannon) over the supply of electricity to the United States.

Waterston will be seen this month in the Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and has Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant and Steven Soderbergh’s Logan Lukcy incoming next year.
