Kevin Feige confirms that Marvel is developing an Eternals movie

April 24, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Over the past few weeks, there have been several rumours suggesting that Marvel is looking to launch Eternals as a new cosmic franchise post-Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and now Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has confirmed that the reports have been accurate.

“Eternals is one of many many many things that we are actively beginning to have creative discussions about to see if we believe in them enough to put them on a slate,” Feige tells The Wrap.”We have started working on what are the films post-Phase 3.”

So, that’s not quite a guarantee that an Eternals movie will happen – see Inhumans, which went as far as being announced for Phase Three before being dropped – and presumably Marvel has a number of potential projects in the works that may end up joining Spider-Man: Homecoming 2, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Black Panther 2 as part of the Phase Four line-up.

The Eternals was created by Jack Kirby after he returned to Marvel from a spell at DC Comics. Launching in 1976, the Eternals were created by the Celestials as an evolutionary offshoot of humanity to serve as the defenders of Earth against their evil counterparts the Deviants.

Are you excited about the prospect of an Eternals movie? Do you think the property has the potential to replicate the success of Guardians of the Galaxy? Let us know in the comments below…
