Kiana Madeira to play gender-swapped villain Spin in The Flash season 5

The CW’s superhero show The Flash has added a new DC villain to its upcoming fifth season, with Deadline reporting that Kiana Madeira (Sacred Lies) is set to play a gender-swapped version of the character Spin.

In DC Comics continuity, Spin is a man called Auerbach who possesses the ability to manipulate emotions. The Arrowverse incarnation of the character is called Spencer Young, and is described as ” a young aspiring social media influencer who seizes the opportunity to make herself famous when she discovers there is a new hero in Central City.”

“After outthinking The Thinker, you’d hope that Barry Allen aka The Flash (Grant Gustin) might have some down time to contemplate his future with his new wife, Iris (Candice Patton). But with their speedster daughter from the future, Nora (new series regular Jessica Parker Kennedy), already grown and a part of their lives, they’ve now got to face Central City’s newest menace — the DC Super-Villain Cicada!”

The Flash season 5 premieres on October 9th on The CW.
