Kumail Nanjiani & Mandy Moore to venture into The Further for Insidious spin-off Thread: An Insidious Tale

May 31, 2023 by Matt Rodgers

Mandy Moore (This is Us) and Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals) have agreed to step into the terrifying world of The Further for Screen Gems, Blumhouse and Atomic Monster’s Insidious spin-off, Thread: An Insidious Tale.

According to Deadline this sixth installment of the $555 million grossing Insidious franchise will star Moore and Nanjiani as a husband and wife who journey into the series’ dark realm in an attempt to bring their daughter back to life. What could possibly go wrong?

Orchestrating the scares will be Moon Knight creator Jeremy Slater, who will make his feature directorial debut with Thread: An Insidious Tale, working from his own script.

Thread will be an offshoot of the main Insidious series, which began with 2010’s superb James Wan original, and continues this July when franchise mainstay Patrick Wilson steps behind the camera for Insidious: The Red Door.

In Insidious: The Red Door, the horror franchise’s original cast returns for the final chapter of the Lambert family’s terrifying saga. To put their demons to rest once and for all, Josh (Patrick Wilson) and a college-aged Dalton (Ty Simpkins) must go deeper into The Further than ever before, facing their family’s dark past and a host of new and more horrifying terrors that lurk behind the red door.

Insidious: The Red Door releases on July 7 in theatres.
