Logan deleted scenes, X-Force update, R-rated DC movies, Wonder Woman teaser, live-action Little Mermaid and more – Daily News Roundup

March 11, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Rounding up the big news from yesterday…

LOGAN DELETED SCENES

Doing the interview rounds for Logan, director James Mangold has been discussing a couple of deleted scenes from the X-Men spinoff – one of which namedropped Jean Grey, and the other featuring the ‘Westchester Incident’, which leads to the death of several members of the X-Men. You can read Mangold’s comments on the deleted scenes here, while he also confirmed the Blu-ray release will feature a black & white version of the film.

DEADPOOL AND CABLE CONFIRMED FOR X-FORCE

In some completely expected news, Fox producer Simon Kinberg has confirmed that Deadpool and Cable will lead the team in the studio’s upcoming X-Men spinoff X-Force. Equally expected is the confirmation that the film will follow in the footsteps of Deadpool and Logan with an R-rating. You can read Kinberg’s comments here.

DC GOES R-RATED?

While it seems unlikely that Marvel Studios take a leaf out of Fox’s book will go down the R-rated route with its Cinematic Universe, it seems that Warner Bros. and DC Films are open to the idea. It’s an El Mayimbe rumour, so it’s probably just speculation, but we’ve already seen WB granting Zack Snyder permission for an R-rated Ultimate Edition cut of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (not to mention the animated movies Batman: The Killing Joke and Justice League Dark), so it’s certainly not beyond the realm of possibility.

WONDER WOMAN POSTER AND TRAILER

In other DCEU news, we’re getting a brand new Wonder Woman trailer today, and Warner Bros. whet our appetites with the release of a new poster, along with a teaser that sees Gal Gadot’s Diana undergoing some tough Amazon training. Check back for the full trailer later today.

THE LITTLE MERMAID MAKES A SPLASH

There was a lot of excitement yesterday when people saw the headlines “Watch the trailer for The Little Mermaid live-action movie!”. That excitement subsided considerably upon the realisation that wasn’t for the upcoming Disney adaptation, nor the Universal / Working Title version, but rather a reimagining of the classic Hans Christian Andersen tale which follows a reporter and his niece who discover a beautiful and enchanting creature the believe to be the real little mermaid. You can watch the trailer here.
