Logan director “would be shocked” if we don’t see X-23 again

February 23, 2017 by Samuel Brace

The director of Logan, James Mangold, has said he would be shocked if Fox didn’t pursue X-23 in the future.

Coming off the back off some incredibly stellar reviews, especially for a Wolverine film, the more grounded take on the infamous X-Men character is generating a lot of buzz.

Not only is Logan being well received, but the film’s R rating combined with some wonderful trailers have got fans excited for the movie’s potential. Good will has been garnered.

Aside from being the last Wolverine performance of actor Hugh Jackman, the film contains other characters worthy of our interest. One of the reported stand outs is the character X-23, played by Dafne Keen, and director of the film James Mangold has said in a Facebook live Q&A that he would be shocked if we don’t see her again.

“Expect is a big word. I think Dafne is a remarkable actress and I think she does an incredible job with this role. Personally, I would be shocked if we don’t look into trying to develop that character further.”

Mangold’s comments follow a recent interview where he stated that he would love to be involved with an X-23 solo movie.

It’s impossible to predict exactly how well fans will take to the character but if reviews and early fan impressions are anything to go by, it would seem prudent of Fox to revisit X-23 in the future.

In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.

Logan is being helmed by The Wolverine director James Mangold and will see Hugh Jackman joined in the cast by Patrick Stewart as Professor X, along with new additions Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, Dafne Keen, Eriq La Salle, Elizabeth Rodriguez and Elise Neal. It is set for release on March 1st in the UK and March 3rd in North America.
