Battle the Outer Gods in Lovecraft-inspired Starless Abyss

October 11, 2024 by Andrew Newton

No More Robots and developer Konafa Games have announced their Lovecraft inspired, turn-based deckbuilder Starless Abyss. This eldritch game with roguelike elements will be available on PC via Steam and take players into the far future and closer to insanity.  A new announcement trailer can be seen below providing a glimpse at some of the allies and enemies that players will encounter.

Players take on the role of a ‘Proxima’, a human held in stasis for many years. Now, having been released they are tasked with the epic mission of defeating the ‘Outer Gods’ which have ripped through space and time. Humanity is on the brink of survival and both science and the occult have come together to stave off the assault of these other-worldly beasts.

Players will command a fleet of ships on missions to destroy the ethereal foe, with every successful mission completed rewarding players with new artefacts that can be used to upgrade their ships. There are also rewards of D.I.C.E that can help sway the flow of battle at pivotal moments and cards from different factions, which can be collected and combined into devastating combos.

The closer players get to the Outer Gods, the more their sanity starts to waver and deplete, once this happens players can either try to fight it off or embrace the madness and make use of overpowered Ritual Cards.

Featuring:

  • Three acts per run.
  • Many boss battles.
  • More than 160 cards to discover.
  • Artefacts to discover and used to upgrade ships.
  • 5 Proximas with different skills and attributes to unlock and upgrade.

Look out for Starless Abyss coming to Steam in the near future.
