Luke Evans to lead the cast of Roland Emmerich’s WWII film Midway

July 9, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Luke Evans (Beauty and the Beast, The Alienist) has signed on to the cast of Midway, the upcoming big budget World War II action epic from director Roland Emmerich (Independence Day).

The film will tell the story of the Battle of Midway, a turning point in the Pacific theater during WWII, and Evans is set to portray Commander Wade McClusky, who would go on to win a Naval Cross for his role in the battle.

Evans – who is currently shooting the comedy Murder Mystery with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston – joins a cast that so far includes Woody Harrelson (Solo: A Star Wars Story) and Mandy Moore (47 Meters Down).
