Margot Robbie talks playing Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad

January 26, 2015 by admin

One of the more exciting tidbits of casting news to come from David Ayer’s Suicide Squad was that Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) would be playing the first big screen adaptation of Harley Quinn, the faithful right hand to the Joker, and firm favourite amongst comic book fans.

“Yeah, I guess it’s intimidating because there’s obviously a lot of people I want to please, and a character I have to do justice, but it’s a challenge, I’m definitely up for it, and hopefully I don’t disappoint,” Robbie told MTV News.

One of the most iconic qualities of Harley Quinn is her voice. “We haven’t gotten too far into it, we’re still pretty far off,” Robbie said, not giving anything away. “I’m actually shooting a movie before that, so my focus is kind of on that at the moment, we haven’t really gotten into the logistics of everything yet.”

She also expresses her excitement to work with Jared Leto, who will be playing The Joker, calling him a, “great, great co-star”.

Suicide Squad is set for release on August 5th 2016 and will feature a cast that also includes Will Smith (Hancock) as Deadshot, Jai Courtney (Terminator: Genisys) as Captain Boomerang and Viola Davis (How to get Away with Murder) as Amanda Waller. Jesse Eisenberg (The Double) is expected to reprise his role as Lex Luthor. You can hear the thoughts on the Flickering Myth Podcast on the cast of Suicide Squad using the player below:
