Mark Tonderai to direct Day of the Dead remake

November 26, 2013 by admin

Back in July it was revealed that George A. Romero’s Day of the Dead was to get the remake treatment again, and now Millennium Films has announced that Mark Tonderai (House at the End of the Street) will take on directing duties, as well as co-writing the script with Lars Jacobsen.

According to Deadline, the latest version of Day of the Dead is described as a “modern day retelling” of the zombie cult classic and will take place “years after the zombie plague has wiped out most of Earth’s population [as] a group of scientists and survivors attempt to find a cure, and instead open Pandora’s box.”

The original Day of the Dead is the third instalment in Romero’s Dead saga and hit cinemas in 1985. Steve Miner directed a rather dreadful remake in 2008 starring Mena Suvari (American Beauty), while this latest remake is expected to begin casting soon ahead of a summer 2014 shoot.
