Marvel and Disney shutting down Marvel Heroes

November 16, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Some sad news for fans of Marvel Heroes, as it has been announced that Disney and Marvel have pulled the plug on the free-to-play MMO.

“We regret to inform our Marvel Heroes fans that we have ended our relationship with Gazillion Entertainment, and that the Marvel Heroes games will be shut down,” read an email from Marvel (via Kotaku). “We would like to sincerely thank the players who joined the Marvel Heroes community, and will provide any further updates as they become available.”

Players had been speculating about the future of the game, which has been missing its weekly updates over the past month, as well as its Halloween event and Thor: Ragnarok-themed content.

Following the announcement, Gazillion released its own statement on Twitter, confirming that the game will stay online until December 31st, 2017.
