Marvel and Hulu announce Howard the Duck, M.O.D.O.K., Hit-Monkey, Tigra & Dazzler adult animated series

February 11, 2019 by Gary Collinson

In a deal similar to that struck between Marvel and Netflix for The Defenders, it has been announced that Marvel and Hulu are set to assemble The Offenders, with four new adult animated series – Howard the Duck, M.O.D.O.K., Hit-Monkey and Tigra & Dazzler Show – which will then lead to a crossover team-up special.

Howard the Duck is being shepherded by Kevin Smith (might this be “the most massive IP I’ve ever been allowed to play with” that he teased a while back?), who will executive produce with Dave Willis and Marvel’s Jeph Loeb. The M.O.D.O.K. series is being produced by Patton Oswalt and Jordan Blum, while Josh Gordon and Will Speck are attached to Hit-Monkey – which and Chelsea Handler and Erica Rivijoja are steering Tigra & Dazzler Show.

Howard the Duck was the subject of his own movie back in 1986, and also made cameo appearances in the MCU in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. M.O.D.O.K. meanwhile will explore the AIM supervillain with an ego and family issues, while Hit-Monkey follows “a pissed off Japanese snow monkey who tries to take on and take down Tokyo’s crime underworld with the ghost of an American assassin by his side” and Tigra & Dazzler will see the two characters “trying to get their superpowered heads, hands and hearts around life in the City of Angels.”

In addition to the above, it is also expected (but unconfirmed at the time of writing) that Hulu will renew its live action Marvel series Runaways for a third season. Expect word soon.
