Marvel returns to the Planet of the Apes in 2023

June 18, 2022 by Gary Collinson

After tapping into the Disney-owned 20th Century Fox IP library to launch new Alien and Predator series, Marvel Comics is now turning its attention to another of Fox’s classic sci-fi properties with the news that the Planet of the Apes franchise is returning to Marvel for all-new stories beginning in early 2023.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Planet of the Apes back to the House of Ideas!” Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski said. “The new saga in the pipeline is going explore the limits of what this beloved franchise has to offer through bold comics storytelling, and we look forward to setting foot on this new adventure!”

Marvel’s association with the classic sci-fi series dates back almost half a century, with its Planet of the Apes series running between 1974 and 1977, along with 1975’s Adventures on the Planet of the Apes, which presented full colour adaptations of the first two movies.

At presents, Marvel’s plans for the license remain under wraps, but the relaunch will include new comic book titles, collections, and reprints. We’ll bring you more info as we get it.
