Marvel star Karen Gillan feels that Nebula’s story is just beginning

March 12, 2020 by Liam Waddington

While Avengers: Endgame was the concluding chapter for several major characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe including Chris Evan’s Steve Rogers and Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark, Karen Gillan has suggested that Nebula’s story is just beginning.

In a recent interview with Fandom, Gillan claimed that she doesn’t feel like Nebula’s story is over at all and in fact, it might just be the beginning after she is now free from Thanos’ control after the Mad Titan’s death in Avengers: Endgame.

“I don’t feel like her story is over at all,” Gillan said. “If anything, I feel like her story might just be beginning. We found her in a really broken, vulnerable place and over the course of the movies, she’s had to face the source of all of her abuse. She’s just had this huge, cathartic experience and the source of the abuse has been eliminated, so what happens next? That’s something that I think is incredibly interesting. The healing can start but that’s not going to be easy and it’s not going to be immediate either.”

Gillan continued to discuss how she plans to approach the role of Nebula moving forward after recovering from the constant abuse of Thanos.

“I can’t wait to kind of channel that into Nebula but also have fun with her at the same time,” she added. “I feel like we’re really going to start to define who she is without Thanos looming over her.”

Recently, it was reported that the fourth instalment in the Thor franchise Thor: Love and Thunder will incorporate some of the Guardians of the Galaxy characters, according to Groot voice actor Vin Diesel. Although Diesel didn’t specify which characters would be included, Nebula was among the Guardians in the final scenes of Endgame, meaning she could appear in Love and Thunder in some capacity before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
