Matthew Lillard knows some of his brightest work comes from the horror genre, and he’s now joining one of the most anticipated upcoming horror series.
Per Deadline, the actor is in talks to join Carrie, Mike Flanagan’s new series, which sees him adapt another Stephen King work. The nature of Lillard’s role in the project has yet to be disclosed.
This is not the first time Flanagan and Lillard have worked together. The pair recently shot another King adaptation, The Life of Chuck, which won the coveted People’s Choice Award at the 2024 Toronto Film Festival.
Little is known about the project, but the Carrie show reportedly “reimagines the story of Carrie White, a shy, bullied teenage girl who discovers she has telekinetic powers, while contending with abuse at school and at home, under the scrutiny of her fanatically religious mother.” Newcomer Summer H. Howell will play the title character, and Siena Agudong will portray Sue Snell.
Lillard is quite busy these days. Not only is the iconic actor known for works like Scream and Scooby Doo, but modern horror fans will recognize him from his recent appearance in Five Nights At Freddy’s. He’s also recently joined the second season of both Daredevil: Born Again from Marvel and Amazon MGM’s Cross. He’s also attached to Scream 7 and a sequel to FNAF.
Stay tuned for more news on Carrie from Mike Flanagan.
