Megan Fox responds to criticism of her casting in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

July 16, 2014 by Gary Collinson

It’s fair to say that director Jonathan Leibesman (Wrath of the Titans) and producer Michael Bay’s (Transformers: Age of Extinction) upcoming reboot Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has come in for its fair share of criticism, whether it be the early talk of changing the Turtles’ origins to have them as aliens, or the casting of Transformers star Megan Fox as reporter April O’Neil. Speaking to MTV, Fox has taken a moment to address the critics of her casting in the film:

“Someone’s always going to be upset about something. When you’re [making] a movie like this and making it live-action, there are things where you’ll have to depart from the original material a little bit. People will be disappointed, but I think people will be overwhelmed with how exciting and amazing and how fresh and how true to the original this is — but you can’t please everyone all the time. I’ve never had more people come up to me to tell me they’re excited about a movie than this one. Nothing I’ve been a part of before has had that sort of reaction.”

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is set for release on August 8th in the States and on October 17th in the UK, with Fox starring alongside Pete Ploszek (Parks and Recreation) and Johnny Knoxville (Jackass Presents Bad Grandpa) as Leonardo, Alan Ritchson (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) as Raphael, Jeremy Howard (How the Grinch Stole Christmas) as Donatello, Noel Fisher (Battle Los Angeles) as Michaelangelo, Danny Woodburn (Seinfeld) and Tony Shalhoub (Monk) as Splinter, William Fichtner (The Dark Knight) as The Shredder, Will Arnett (The LEGO Movie) as Vernon Fenwick, Whoopi Goldberg (Ghost) as Bernadette Thompson, and K. Todd Freeman (The Dark Knight) as Baxter Stockman. Watch the latest trailer here.
