Menstruating women turn into ferocious killers in Image’s Man-Eaters

June 19, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Image Comics has announced that Eisner-nominated writer Chelsea Cain is reuniting with the Mockingbird creative team of artist Kate Niemczyk, colorist Rachelle Rosenberg, and letterer Joe Caramagna for a brand new ongoing series Man-Eaters, launching this September.

A mutation in Toxoplasmosis causes menstruating women to turn into ferocious killer wildcats—easily provoked and extremely dangerous. As panic spreads and paranoia takes root, the fate of the world rides on the shoulders of one twelve-year-old girl. Part Cat People, part The Handmaid’s Tale, all pro-feline agenda.

“Pop culture has a long tradition of manifesting our cultural anxieties as monsters,” said Cain. “What scares us most right now? …Women.”

“Only Chelsea would have me draw a tampon wearing a cape,” added Niemczyk.

Man-Eaters #1 is set to go on sale on Wednesday, September 26th.
