Michael Bay “apologises” for Armageddon

April 22, 2013 by admin

Some may think it’s too little too late, but Michael Bay in a recent profile with The Miami Herald, the Transformers director has apologised for his 1998 blockbuster Armageddon.

“I will apologize for Armageddon, because we had to do the whole movie in 16 weeks,” Bay told the newspaper while promoting his upcoming Pain & Gain. “It was a massive undertaking. That was not fair to the movie. I would redo the entire third act if I could. But the studio literally took the movie away from us. It was terrible. My visual effects supervisor had a nervous breakdown, so I had to be in charge of that. I called James Cameron and asked ‘What do you do when you’re doing all the effects yourself?’ But the movie did fine.”

And fine the movie did, grossing $200 million in North America alone.

Bay has not been unknown for apologising for his movies, in 2011 the director slated Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen claiming that the writer’s strike ruined the story, “We made some mistakes. The real fault with [the movie] is that it ran into a mystical world. When I look back at it, that was crap. The writers’ strike was coming hard and fast. It was just terrible to do a movie where you’ve got to have a story in three weeks. I was prepping a movie for months where I only had 14 pages of some idea of what the movie was.”

Now if we can just get him to apologise for Pearl ;Harbour…
