Michelle Rodriguez threatens to quit Fast & Furious franchise over representation of women

June 28, 2017 by Robert Kojder

Michelle Rodriguez has taken to Instagram to mark the digital release of The Fate of the Furious and essentially threaten that if something doesn’t change with regards to the representation of women in the franchise (where most are simply window-dressing eye-candy) she will exit her role as Dom’s love interest, Letty.

“The Fate of the Furious is out digitally today, I hope they decide to show some love to the women of the franchise on the next one,” wrote Rodriguez. “Or I just might have to say goodbye to a loved franchise. It’s been a good ride and I’m grateful for the opportunity the fans and studio have provided over the years… One Love.”

Universal has two more Fast & Furious movies slated for release in 2019 and 2021, both of which would presumably see the return of Rodriguez’s Letty. Let us know below in the comments if you agree with Michelle Rodriguez’s comments about female representation in the franchise, and if you’d be disappointed by her exit from the series…
