Mike Flanagan to write and direct Inherit the Earth

December 12, 2016 by Amie Cranswick

Ouija: Origin of Evil and Hush director Mike Flanagan has signed on to direct Inherit the Earth for Sony Pictures and Platinum Dunes. Flanagan takes over from director Andrew Adamson, who exited the sci-fi project earlier this year, and will also provide a rewrite of the original script.

Inherit the Earth follows a servant robot who is tasked with protecting a young girl. The project reteams Flanagan with Platinum Dunes, producers of the Ouija sequel, with Platinum’s Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller producing alongside Dave Alpert and Rick Jacobs of Circle of Confusion.

Flanagan’s horror film Before I Wake is slated to hit U.S. cinemas some time in 2017, while he is currently directing an adaptation of Stephen King’s Gerald’s Game for Netflix.
