Milla Jovovich would “always love” to return to Resident Evil

December 18, 2020 by Liam Waddington

Although the story of Milla Jovovich’s Alice came to an end after six films, concluding with Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, the actor has revealed that she would “always love” to return to the series in some capacity.

“Resident Evil is such a huge part of my life, on so many different levels,” Jovovich told ComicBook.com. “I was such a big fan of the game. That’s what made me want to be in the movie to begin with. So, I would always love to go back to the Resident Evil universe. I think it’s such a fun place to be in, and it’s such a great reality. And, listen, I spent half of my career in that world. I would love to be a part of it again. I know whoever is doing it is going to have an amazing time on it, because it’s a really fun world to be a part of.”

While Jovovich would be interested in returning to the Resident Evil universe, her husband and director Paul W.S. Anderson has previously stated that he doubts he will ever return for another instalment.

“After making six movies, 1.2 billion dollars, you know, the most successful video game adaptation ever, I’m very… I think we did our job. We did great work. We closed it up really nicely, and now we’ve launched into something brand new, which is Monster Hunter, and I’m very excited to kind of put my energy into energies into that,” Anderson said.

Meanwhile, a Resident Evil movie reboot is currently in development from writer-director Johannes Roberts, the man behind the shark thriller 47 Meters Down and its sequel, and will reportedly re-tell the iconic story of Spencer Mansion and Raccoon City, but with a new spin of the characters’ origins and the original video game story.

The reboot will star Kaya Scodelario (Crawl) as Claire Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell (Arrowverse) as Chris Redfield, Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy) as Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Double Tap) as Leon S. Kennedy, and Neal McDonough (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow) as William Birkin. The reboot is reportedly scheduled for a September 9th 2021 release date.
