Mindhunter and Frozen’s Jonathan Groff joins the cast of The Matrix 4

Warner Bros. has added Mindhunter and Frozen star Jonathan Groff to the growing cast of Lana Wachowski’s The Matrix 4, with the actor singing on for an as-yet-unrevealed role in the film, according to Collider.

Plot details on The Matrix 4 are being kept under wraps, although Groff will be joining an already announced cast including Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Jada Pinkett Smith will reprise their roles as Neo, Trinity, and Niobe respectively. Additionally, Aquaman villain Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is joining the franchise as a lead with Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist) and Neil Patrick Harris (A Series of Unfortunate Events) in roles that are also kept under wraps.

Lana Wachowski will direct The Matrix 4 from a script she has co-written with Aleksander Hemon and David Mitchell. Filming is expected to get underway in early 2020.
