Although we’re yet to hear anything about a third season renewal, Mindy Kaling’s Velma Dinkley is set to return from the dead this October with Max announcing a spooky special of the divisive adult animated Scooby-Doo spinoff series Velma will ahead of Halloween. The Velma Halloween Special will pick up from the season two finale of Velma, where the Mindy Kaling-voiced young detective was killed at the paws of an evil Scrappy Doo and found herself manifesting as a ghost.
The official synopsis for the Velma Halloween Special reads: “With just 24 hours to bring Velma back, the friends search for a dark spellbook while trying to avoid the wrath of a vengeful spirit. But as the annual Sexy Halloween party nears, Velma and the gang must face their biggest fears… if they all want to make it out alive.”
Set to feature in the voice cast are Mindy Kaling, Glenn Howerton, Sam Richardson, Constance Wu, Russell Peters, Sarayu Blue, Jane Lynch, Wanda Sykes, Frank Welker, Nicole Byer, Gary Cole, Andia Winslow, Sara Ramirez, Nicholas Braun, Fortune Feimster, Jennifer Hale, Richard Kind, Jason Mantzoukas, Saweetie, Debby Ryan, and Kulap Vilaysack.
The Velma Halloween Special will air on Max on Thursday, October 3rd.
