Molly Ringwald to star in Netflix’s The Kissing Booth

February 1, 2017 by Samuel Brace

80’s favourite Molly Ringwald is set to star with Joey King in a new Netflix original film, The Kissing Booth.

The romantic movie will follow 16 year old Elle Evans as she embarks on a love story with her crush after receiving her first kiss at a carnival kissing booth. The film is an adaptation of Beth Reekles’ YA novel and is currently shooting in South Africa.

Joey King can be seen next in the remake of 1979 flick Going in Style with Morgan Freeman. Ringwald, star of iconic teen films The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles, will next star in CW series Riverdale.

Netflix are embarking on a pretty huge 2017, attempting to continue the momentum of an impressive 2016.

With return original shows House of Cards and Stranger Things on the horizon, along with a band of new series and a host of other original movies, their catalog is due to grow and grow.

This is the time for Netflix to strike, right now when the iron is hottest, and that’s exactly what they are doing.

No further casting details have been announced as yet for The Kissing Booth but Teen Beach director Vince Marcello will be in the director’s chair having also written the script.
