Monarch: Legacy of Monsters wraps production on season 2

March 20, 2025 by Ricky Church

Production on the second season of the Monsterverse series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters has finished. Apple TV+ made the announcement with a photo of some of its cast among the devastated set.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters spans three generations and explores the buried secrets behind the mysterious Monarch organisation and their encounters with Godzilla and various other Titans.

The photo shows Ren Watabe, Takehiro Hira, Kiersey Clemons and Anna Sawai celebrating in the ruins of a possible Monarch base as Apple said “Pay no attention to the destruction in the background. That’s a wrap on #Monarch Season 2.”

Legendary and Apple TV+ have been very tightlipped about the upcoming season, but we do know Amber Midthunder (Prey) has joined the cast for season two and the companies are developing several more spin-off series within the Monsterverse. Those are in addition to the Godzilla x Kong sequel which has already picked up several new cast members.

Created by showrunners Chris Black and Matt Fraction, the first season of Monarch featured a cast that included Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, John Goodman, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski.

Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco, and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later when Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga — spanning three generations — reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.
