It’s fair to say that Suicide Squad has a rough old time of it since its release last week. Despite a big opening weekend, it was slammed by many critics (it now has a lower Rotten Tomatoes score than Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) and audiences haven’t taken to it either.
However it could be fueling the fire of one of the next stops in the DC Extended Universe, as Ezra Miller has said the defense behind the movie’s poor reviews by the director and cast are motivating Justice League.
“You needn’t look any further than the Suicide Squad director and cast response to the negative reviews to feel how negative critiques motivate us,” Miller, who plays The Flash, told MTV News. “Ultimately, we can’t base anything on [the critical response]. As artists, we aim to please absolutely everybody with our work, but we also know that we have to keep expressing ourselves as best as we can express ourselves.”
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Simmons (Whiplash) as Commissioner Gordon, Amber Heard (The Danish Girl) as Mera, Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man) as Vulko and Julian Lewis Jones (Stella) in an as-yet-unrevealed role. It is set for release on November 17th 2017.
