Neill Blomkamp has confirmed that he’s moved on from his Alien movie

January 3, 2018 by Samuel Brace

We now have confirmation from Neill Blomkamp that his proposed Alien movie is no longer a project that he is thinking about.

When Ridley Scott brought back the Alien franchise with Prometheus a number of years ago there was indeed a lot of excitement about where the series could go, and Blomkamp was being lined up to direct a sequel movie as opposed to Scott’s prequel entries.

The Alien franchise in 2018 isn’t in great shape with its future being uncertain after Alien: Covenant’s poor performance. We also know that Blomkamp’s film isn’t going to happen and now the director has confirmed that he has also moved on from the idea.

Posting on Twitter, the director said: “Yes. I have moved on. What I meant was that I wish there was a way for fans to see some of what we had designed. It was an amazing chance to work in the world Ridley and James Cameron created. And collaborate with Sigourney.”

Blomkamp’s movie was originally set to be a direct sequel to Alien and Aliens, with the characters of Ripley, Hicks and Newt returning, and Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn reprising their roles.
