Netflix renews Blue Eye Samurai for second season

December 14, 2023 by Gary Collinson

Coming a little over a month after its premiere on the streamer, Netflix has announced that it has renewed its bloody adult animated series Blue Eye Samurai for a second season.

Created by Michael Green (Logan) and Amber Noizumi, the series takes place in Edo-period Japan and follows a mixed race master of the sword who lives a life in disguise seeking the deliverance of revenge.

“When we started this project, we made a commitment to take this very personal story set in Edo-period Japan and bring it to life in the most authentic and beautiful way possible,” saidAmber Noizumi and Michael Green. “Our animators, historians, musicians, martial artists and voice cast made this a reality beyond our expectations. We are thankful to our entire team and to our viewers from all over the world who have shown such passion for Mizu and her path of revenge.  Mizu has a lot more blood to spill! We are deeply grateful to our incredible partners at Netflix for letting the journey continue.”

Blue Eye Samurai is streaming now on Netflix and features the voice talents of Maya Erskine (PEN15), George Takei (Star Trek), Masi Oka (Heroes), Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (The Man in High Castle), Brenda Song (Dollface), Darren Barnet (Gran Turismo), Randall Park (WandaVision), Kenneth Branagh (Oppenheimer), Stephanie Hsu (Joy Ride), Ming-Na Wen (The Mandalorian), Harry Shum Jr. (Glee) and Mark Dacascos (John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum).
