Netflix shares trailer for live-action Demon City movie

February 10, 2025 by Amie Cranswick

Ahead of its arrival on Netflix later this month, the streamer has released a poster and trailer for Demon City, the live-action adaptation of Masamichi Kawabe’s manga Oni Goroshi.

Directed by Seiji Tanaka, the action thriller follows Sakata (Toma Ikuta), a legendary hitman who is framed for the murder of his family and left for dead. But when he awakens from a coma after more than a decade, Sakata sets out on an epic path of revenge.

Just as hit man Shuhei Sakata is about to clean up his act for his family, the mysterious organization Kimen-gumi murders his wife and daughter, pinning the blame on him and sullying his name. After being shot in the head, he miraculously survives but falls into a coma. Twelve years later, the Kimen-gumi attacks him again, but his dormant killer instinct awakens, setting him on an epic course of revenge. However, what awaits him is a truth that threatens to completely alter his destiny.

The film stars Toma Ikuta, Masahiro Higashide, Miou Tanaka, Ami Touma, Taro Suruga, Mai Kiryu, Naoto Takenaka, Takuma Otoo, Masanobu Takashima, and Matsuya Onoe.

Demon City arrives on Netflix on February 27th.
